JuMBO – Juvenile Arthritis-Methotrexate-Biologics long-term Observation

Since 2007, the JuMBO registry examines the long-term effects of new rheumatological therapies in patients who developed juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) in childhood. This registry is a subsequent database to the BiKeR registry (headed by Prof. Dr. Horneff of St. Augustin), and its function is to monitor the health of adults post-pediatric rheumatology treatment. The present study focuses on the safety and efficacy of new disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) and the long-term prognosis of JIA. The comprehensive scientific documentation, in which more than 400 rheumatology practices, outpatient clinics and General Practitioners and orthopaedic facilities participate, capture information on current therapies, disease activity, joint findings and adverse events every six months.Participants are also requested to submit reports on a range of health-related issues, including their general state of health, the quality of their life, and the disease burden they are currently experiencing. In addition to these reports, participants are also asked to provide information on any pregnancies, surgical operations, and hospital stays that they have undergone. Data pertaining to educational institutions and vocational training programmes is also collated, in addition to information relating to periods of absence. The JuMBO register is a valuable resource in this respect, as it enables the collection of continuous data on the care of young adults with JIA, thereby providing insights into the optimal management of the condition.
